Headteachers' Welcomes

Welcome from our Executive Headteacher

Mr Gary Coffey

Welcome to Victoria College’s website, where you will find lots of useful information about the work that we do, including the creative and vibrant offer for our students.

Victoria College is an independent specialist provision for students aged 19 to 25 who have a range of learning difficulties, including physical disabilities and complex health care needs.

Our team of professionals are well supported to provide the best education for every student and we are proud of the holistic support that is established with outside agencies. We have a dedicated and skilled staff team, which includes teachers, class-based support staff, an administrative team and site team. The children are also supported by onsite NHS nurses and physiotherapists.

Victoria College is part of a Federation (memorandum of understanding) with Cherry Oak School and Victoria School, which gives us many opportunities for collaborative work and sharing of good practice.

We are very proud of every student’s achievements throughout their time in College and we celebrate success at every opportunity and across the curriculum. Everything we do is based on what is best for our students and we develop positive relationships with their families too, in order to plan for success beyond College.

Welcome from our Head of College

Ms Clare Scattergood

Welcome to Victoria College.

Here at Victoria College, we educate our students to achieve both academically and personally through a stimulating, varied and challenging programme of study.

Our dedicated team of professionals include specialist teachers, high level teaching assistants, teaching assistants and support staff, medical and specialist therapists and administration staff.

Each student follows their own timetable of sessions, they focus on their own personal targets whilst working together to build friendships with peers both in class and throughout the college, including in communication sessions, belonging to the student voice council and the student choice afternoon.

We offer advice and support for families in many ways, from the initial interest in the college until after they leave the college. Families are welcomed to join our parent group.

Our students have many personal challenges to overcome and we aim for them to leave college having learnt new skills, having had many new experiences and opportunities, developed new friendships and a bridge to transition into adulthood.

With over 20 years of specialist education experience I am still in awe and extremely proud of the achievements our young people make.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a visit.
